Camelthorn is a premium African hardwood renowned for its exceptional density, remarkable durability, and rich reddish-brown to dark chocolate heartwood. Native to the arid savannas of Southern Africa, Camelthorn is one of the hardest and most stable hardwoods available, making it a favorite among pen makers, woodturners, knife makers, and fine woodworking artisans.
Its fine, uniform texture and straight to slightly interlocked grain allow Camelthorn to turn beautifully on the lathe, producing crisp details and a glass-like finish. The wood's natural luster and striking color create elegant, heirloom-quality projects that are built to last.
Whether you're crafting custom pens, knife handles, bottle stoppers, duck calls, game calls, pepper mills, decorative turnings, or other specialty woodworking projects, Camelthorn offers outstanding performance, stability, and timeless beauty.
